Waymo Passes 100 Million Driverless Miles as Robotaxis Reach Real Scale
In 2025 Waymo logged 100 million fully autonomous miles and tripled annual rides to 15 million — robotaxis went truly commercial.
2025 was Waymo's milestone year: per The Information, its robotaxis passed 100 million fully autonomous miles (no safety driver) — more than 200 round trips to the Moon.
Per Waymo's year in review, annual rides more than tripled to 15 million, lifetime paid trips passed 20 million, and service ran across San Francisco, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Austin and Atlanta — over 250,000 paid rides a week, marching toward a 1-million-per-week target.
Unlike Tesla's supervised FSD approach, Waymo bet on fully driverless, asset-heavy operations — and its safety data shows a crash rate below human drivers. The inflection from demo to durable business has arrived.
