Suits
Work that moves between the terminal, an IDE and the cloud within one session: multi-file changes, filling in tests, commits and PR review, CI automation, and tool calls through MCP — the uses the official docs lead with.
Limits and caveats
Most surfaces require a Claude subscription or an Anthropic Console account: the official pricing page puts Claude Code in Pro and above and the free plan does not include it. With an API key it bills by token consumption — Anthropic's own docs put enterprise deployments at about US$13 per developer per active day and US$150–250 per developer per month. The desktop app is still beta on Ubuntu and Debian.

“Suits” and “Limits and caveats” are the desk’s assessment of the sources listed here, not a hands-on test.
