Apple WWDC 2026: Next-Gen Apple Intelligence and Siri AI Arrive

At WWDC26 Apple previewed the next generation of Apple Intelligence and introduced Siri AI — which the company calls an entirely new version of Siri (Apple newsroom, 2026-06-08). The same event brought new parental controls and updates across iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27, watchOS 27, visionOS 27 and tvOS 27.

Siri AI: on-screen awareness and personal context#

Per the press release, Siri AI can answer questions about what is on the user's screen, draw on personal context understanding to search across apps (messages, emails, photos and more), and get things done across apps with more systemwide app actions; for up-to-date questions it can go out to the web and use broad world knowledge. A dedicated Siri app lets users revisit or start a conversation, privately syncing conversational history across their own devices via iCloud.

The privacy architecture: official wording and its limits#

The press release's wording is that the next generation of Apple Intelligence builds on a "bold new architecture uniquely designed to protect users' privacy." One thing is worth stating plainly: the press release does not say how processing is split between on-device compute and a private cloud, so this article does not fill that in.

Availability and timeline#

The press release is clearer about the timeline than the word "launch" suggests:

• Developers: new Siri AI features are available for developer testing from the day of the release across iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27 and visionOS 27; watchOS 27 comes in a future beta.
• General users: a public beta arrives next month through the Apple Beta Software Program; Siri AI will be available as a beta later this year for users whose supported device is set to English, with more languages to follow; users who enable Apple Intelligence get access this fall with iOS 27 and the other platforms.
• Regional limits: Siri AI will not be available initially in the EU in iOS, iPadOS and watchOS (Mac and Apple Vision Pro users in the EU can access it when set to a supported language); Siri AI and the other new Apple Intelligence features will not be available in China while Apple works through regulatory requirements.
